Sudoku Rules
Sudoku is a number puzzle where the objective is to fill every row, column and box (3x3 grid) with the numbers from 1-9. Each unit (row, column or box) must have each number exactly once. The game starts with a number of fields pre-filled. Your objective is to fill the rest of the fields without breaking the constraints that each number can only be once in each row, column and box.

I've been planning to create a Sudoku game for a long time, ever since I read Peter Norvig's excellent Sudoku Solver article. The code I wrote to generate and solve Sudoku puzzles for this game is based on his solver. Play the number game that adds up to fun! Use simple logic to fill in the puzzle's nine rows and nine columns with numerals 1-9. Each number can only be used once in a given row or column. Enter the correct number in every grid square to win! Sudoku has two modes: Pen and Pencil.

Sudoku Strategy
The basic gameplay, which will be enough to solve many easy Sudoku puzzles, is simply to look at an empty field and eliminate all numbers that are already present in the row, column and box it belongs to. In many cases this will be enough to find the correct number. And of course as soon as you've found the right number for one field, it will be easier to figure out other fields in the same row, column or box.

You click on the squares you want to put numbers in, and then either click the numbers buttons on the screen, or the number keys on your keyboard to fill them in. If the 'Multinumber' button is pressed then you can put more than one number in each square, it will show as small numbers if there are more than one number in the square. However, in some cases you might want to put just one number in the square and still have it be small, if you think it should be there but are not sure. In that case, hold down the shift key on your keyboard and press the number key, if you do that there will always be a small number in the square, even if there's just one number there.
Sudoku is a game of pure logical deduction, where no guessing is ever required in the puzzle game. Hard Sudoku may test your belief in this, but just stick to logic, and you are sure to power your way through to an ultimate Hard Sudoku win!
